BoxerZukunft is an association that was founded after much deliberation and weighing up the pros and cons. The founding members include Heike Fahrenschon, breeder at Alte Turbine, and Sissi Fuchs-Rothenpieler, breeder at Lindwurmstadt. Both are founders of the Boxer Genetic association, which stands for the latest findings in genetics in breeding. This is not about pedigrees and the resulting inbreeding factor, but about the genetic material that each boxer carries individually. More on this here...

There is hardly any information available, and many breeder websites always portray themselves as breeding healthy, beautiful and strong-willed boxers that are integrated into the family and well socialised. Normal!

We have always asked ourselves critically whether the term ‘healthy boxers’ can still be used in view of the current situation with breeding-related diseases such as SRMA (steroid-responsive meningitis arteritis), JRD (juvenile renal dysplasia), allergies, cancer, etc.

It has never been an expression of the fact that we, and only we, have found the wisdom and the recipe for owning and breeding healthy boxers without exception.

In all of our interests, the breeding goal should be healthy boxers, and as mentioned several times on our website, this can be achieved in various ways.
Heike Fahrenschon and Dr. Sissi Fuchs-Rothenpieler are the initiators who laid the foundation for the establishment of a blood database (starting in 2015) for Boxers at the Feragen laboratory.

The SRMA study was initiated with the establishment of the blood database. At the moment, all available data is stored at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, where Dr Wallner and Dr Hellmer are preparing it with prospective doctoral students before handing it over to Prof. Leeb, who will then carry out the actual study.

All these reasons have prompted us, after many years of breeding within the VDH and ÖKV associations, to turn our backs on these associations and take the path we believe to be the right one. Opening the stud books, freeing ourselves from the constraints of breeding values and popular sires, and no longer turning a blind eye. No more discussions with ignorant people and those stuck in the past.

We are aware that fingers are being pointed at us. By former fellow breeders, but our path may be wrong for many, for us it is right and important to look in the mirror and be able to say that we have tried everything to lay the foundation for genetic diversity, which is necessary for robust health.


Ten years of work invested in convincing the associations. As the saying goes, those who don't want to, already have. No more talks and letters, we are now taking decisive action and look forward to seeing you and walking this path together.
